7 Easy Tricks to Help Jazz up Your Kid’s Room

Now that you’ve spent time designing the common areas of your home, it’s time to tackle your kid’s room. Does it seem as though that they’ve dumped out all of their toys onto the middle of the floor to annoy you? Or, are they constantly asking you to make their room cooler? Here are ‘7 Easy Tricks to Help Jazz Up Your Kid’s Room’!
1. Start by Tidying Up Your Kid’s Room
To kick off jazzing up your kid’s room, our first tip of giving your kid’s room a makeover is to dive into the piles of toys that have been dumped out all over the floor. By clearing what’s on the floor away, you can begin to put your creativity to work.
Use plastic boxes to categorize and gather up smaller toys. This will make tidying their room quicker and easier and is a great way to get your kid’s involved with helping out with keeping their room tidy. Donate toys and accessories that your kid’s no longer play with to your local preschool, church, or charity.

3. Making the Most of a Small Space
Did you know that Project Nord is a Danish company? Our Copenhagen office is small, so we have to make the most by furnishing it with only what we use daily. The typical Danish home is compact, which means the bedrooms are typically small. This understandably means that everything from the furniture to the wall art must be chosen for the space, or made to suit a compact space. Making the most of a small space fits within minimalist practices. Here are some tips to make the most of your small space in your kid’s room.
Utilize the space beneath your kid’s bed. If there is space beneath your kid’s bed, it is a great place to neatly place items that are seldom used, and it might help with reassuring them that there isn’t a monster under their bed!
Shelving and bookcases. As shelving and closet space are practical places to store belongings in a room they are also a simple ‘go to’ for solving space issues.
Foldable and v furniture. When space is limited, nothing can be more frustrating than having bulky furniture. IKEA is a great place to start, if you’re looking for the perfect multifunctional and foldable furniture for your kid’s room.
4. When in Doubt, Add a Fresh Coat of Paint
If you’re having trouble deciding on which color to paint your kid’s room, or you don’t want to be stuck with a color that your child may grow tired of, then freshen up the walls with white paint!
During the winter months in Scandinavia, a warm, yet bright room is the key to surviving the dark and cold season. The trick to this is to paint your walls white. By having white walls, it not only brightens a space, but it is the foundation to keeping your kid’s bedroom versatile with Kid's Posters and to change according to the season.

As long as the piece of furniture doesn’t have any major structural faults, there are no limits to how you can refurbish old furniture. Here are a couple of ideas to inspire as you go:
Sanding and painting. Often, all an old piece of furniture needs is to be brushed with sandpaper and a fresh coat of paint.
Removing parts to repurpose. Remove drawers, knobs, and even the legs from an old piece of furniture. By doing so, you can repurpose the old furniture former function, like a doll house or a play kitchen. However you repurpose your old furniture, keep in mind how it will suit the overall decor of your kid’s bedroom and have fun!
6. Involve Your Kids in Arts and Craft Project
Kid’s love to make stuff. Their imaginations run wild with arts and crafts. Using paper and other materials can get them inspired about their space. Ask them to share their ideas on how their room should look and then watch them go!
Another option is to have them help you hang their artwork on their walls. You probably have a ton of their artwork, so why not show them how proud you are of their works. Washi tape is a neat way to hang their artwork. It even comes in different patterns and colors to fit the decor. Depending on your child’s age, the options for involving them in an arts craft project for their bedroom’s design are endless!
7. Create a Theme to Your Kid’s Room
Most kid’s have a favorite cartoon like PJ Mask, or Peppa Pig and they would more than likely worship the ground you walk on, if you decorated your kid's room with their favorite theme.
Start off simply by finding wall stickers, or purchasing themed comforter and pillow cover, or sheets. As kids grow out of one superhero character and into their favorite idol, you want to be able to keep up with their ever-changing tastes without adding unnecessary waste to the environment and compromising your budget.
Start by asking your children what their interests are? Then go!
Jazzing up your kid’s bedroom is a great experience for both parent and child. Just remember to tidy up and get rid of unwanted items by either donating, or refurbishing your items. The point is to make the most of the space without adding more clutter to the room. The most important thing to remember when you are contemplating jazzing up your kid’s bedroom is to get them involved in the project! They may even surprise you and actually make effort to take care of and keep their rooms clean.
